About

An ever-growing love for nature, fascination with the world around us and a soft corner for the downtrodden drives me as a person and I often use a camera to capture or express my feelings. For me, photography is simply an extension of my day-to-day experiences or my journey through life, often an effort to give to the subjects my admiration.

I was born and brought up in the city of Jaipur (Rajasthan) India and studied at St. Xavier’s School. With a childhood flair for art, went on to study graphic design at the prestigious Faculty of Fine Arts, M. S. University, Baroda (Gujarat, India). It was at Baroda that I got introduced to photography as part of the professional B.F.A. degree programme. What began as a subject turned into a passion, leading me to shoot hundreds of rolls of film and develop a great many monochrome prints in the faculty darkroom.

After graduation, I worked for 5 years with Mudra Communications, New Delhi (one of India’s leading advertising agencies) as an art-director and afterwards started my freelance graphic design career. In year 2000, a trip to Keoladeo National Park, Bharatpur, made me interested in birds and changed my life. Birds made me more conscious of my surroundings, which later helped me tremendously as a photographer; one of the series on this website is dedicated to birds.

I live and work in the cities of Jaipur and New Delhi, India and shoot a wide-variety of subjects, sometimes spontaneously and sometimes with planning, using varying techniques and equipment. A strong believer in the natural power of images, I do not tweak my photographs nor do I title them, wishing to bring them to viewers in the purest form, without visual or verbal bias. Currently, some of my photographs are in private collections in India, Canada and United States, many with India’s leading stock photo agency and quite a few have been published by some of India’s leading NGOs and publishers.
